Title: Armed Security Specialist

Reports to: Director of Safety and Security

Salary: $48,000 - $60,000

Calendar: 220 Days

Job Summary: Provides building safety and security for all students, staff, and visitors. Acts as an armed security presence at district events, conducts investigations, and documents incidents as applicable. Helps promote a positive learning environment by upholding safety and security procedures/policies. Develops and promotes community relations with your assigned school community. Actively reports and up-channels safety/security concerns to building administration and Safety and Security Department. Collaboratively works with school administrators, staff members, security personnel, and other stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides building safety and security for all students, staff, and visitors. Helps promote a positive learning environment by upholding safety and security procedures/policies.
  • Develops and facilitates community relations and communications among all stakeholders.
  • Responds to calls for service throughout the school district and supports school/district administrators, staff, and departments with safety and security needs or concerns.
  • Operate and utilize the Raptor Visitor Management System for all visitors requesting access to the facility.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and security standards. Provides a positive presence at schools and builds relationships with heads of departments.
  • Liaison with local law enforcement agencies, fire protection districts, and other first-responding agencies.
  • Give presentations, teach school safety protocols, and pre-plan response efforts with students and staff as your assigned school.
  • Completes incident reports involving violations and/or safety/security-related incidents within the district.
  • Reviews video footage and extrapolates evidentiary information.
  • Participates and assists with threat assessment, threat screening, safety plans, and suicide risk assessments as needed.
  • Provides security for major security events to include graduation ceremonies, sports events and other extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous police, military, or security experience preferred.
  • Concealed carry permit required.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Colorado POST handgun qualificaton course.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training as required by the Director of Security.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Advanced medical training preferred (CPR/AED, First Responder, Stop the Bleed, TCCC).
  • Must pass an extensive background investigation.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
