Position Summary

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with DI or DX Endorsement

Position Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains long range and daily instructional plans.

  • Develops engaging, student-centered programming

  • Develops healthy self-esteem in students.

  • Ensures that all substitutes have lesson plans.

  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, provides progress reports as required and communicates with parents as deemed necessary.

  • Serves on building and district committees that develop curriculum and enhance instruction.

  • Maintains records for such things as student attendance, evaluations, report cards, discipline records and documents required by the School Board or Board of Education using prescribed formats.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated passion for introducing children to the world of scientific discoveries

  • Experience teaching in an urban school district

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • A belief that all children can achieve no matter their zip code

  • Deep understanding of the nuanced needs of low-income student populations, and trauma-informed teaching practices and restorative justice

  • Deep instructional expertise, developing student-centered classrooms

  • A willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to student achievement

  • A knack for engaging students in such a way that brings out the best in every child

Salary

  • $50,000 - $82,010

  • Potential for additional stipends

Contract

  • 188 day contract
