BEHAVIOR ANALYST
STANISLAUS COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION

CLASS TITLE: Behavior Analyst
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Division Director Special Education, will collaborate with school and district staff
to design, implement and evaluate Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments
(FBA) for special education and general education students.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Act as a resource to teachers, parents, and school district personnel in areas of behavior analysis and positive
behavior intervention strategies to include staff, classroom, and school-site trainings.
In collaboration with the special and/or general education teams, develop appropriate and effective
behavior intervention and classroom management plans including behavior goals focused on teaching
appropriate replacement behaviors, precursor skills, and reducing the need to engage in behavior that
impedes learning in the educational setting, in accordance with appropriate data collection and monitoring.
Monitor behavior plans as per IEP (Individualized Education Plan), 504, and SST (Student Study Team)
and in accordance with timeline expectations.
Develop data collection systems, train staff to use the systems, monitor and analyze data collection related to
behavior intervention plans and goals.
Expected to be trained in the most current SCOE approved crisis intervention system.
Maintain certification in SCOE approved crisis intervention system, use strategies taught, and support staff
in a crisis situation when appropriate.
Together with program staff, develop systems for managing crises in the classroom.
Develop effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents, school, and support staff.
Communicate ideas in oral, graphical, and written form.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
IEP Process, behavior analysis, and positive behavior interventions as they relate to students and staff.
ABILITY TO:
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and administrators by establishing and maintaining
effective working relationships.
Develop and implement effective behavior intervention plans.
Plan and implement formal and informal trainings including group and individual for parents, students, staff,
and districts.

Promote a positive image for the Stanislaus County Office of Education.
Use a computer with basic computer literacy to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree in behavior analysis, natural science, education, human services, engineering, medicine or
related field to behavior analysis.
Experience in design and implementation of behavior intervention systems with students ranging from
Preschool to age 22 in an educational setting is desirable.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
Pass an employer paid pre-employment physical/drug screening.
Department of Justice clearance.
Employee must arrange their own transportation. If using own vehicle in the course of employment must have
proof of insurance.
May be required to drive from site to site.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, or an alternative means of operating a computer
or keyboard (e.g., speech-to-text, text-to-speech, etc.)
Ability to use de-escalation strategies and if appropriate physical restraint.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations.
Seeing to read a computer screen and a variety of materials and observe student and staff behavior.
Sitting for extended periods of time.
Negotiate a variety of surfaces found at school sites (e.g., playgrounds, classrooms, office environments, etc.).
Physical agility to push, pull, squat, twist turn, bend, stoop, walk, and reach overhead.
Physical ability to implement SCOE approved crisis intervention system.
