Description:

Special Education Teachers provide instruction and support to students with disabilities, helping them reach their academic and personal goals. They develop individualized education plans for students, collaborate with parents, and provide necessary accommodations and modifications to ensure students receive the most appropriate instruction and support. We are looking for several dynamic candidates to join our staffs at Laurel High School and Laurel Middle School.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Qualify, at time of hire, for State of Delaware certification as a Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities (1571) required.
  • Dual certification in an Elementary, Middle Level or Secondary Content Area required.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a level of knowledge and/or experience appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying needs
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of current special education teaching strategies
  • Patience and empathy for students with disabilities
  • Favorable criminal background and child protection registry check for the candidate offered employment required.
  • Tuberculin test required.
  • Participation in Direct Deposit required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop individualized learning plans for students with disabilities
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to develop effective strategies for students
  • Educate students on self-advocacy and independence skills
  • Provide accommodations and modifications to ensure students receive appropriate instruction
  • Assist in the development of behavior plans for students


TERMS OF 1. Salary based on State and local salary schedule
