Achievement First invites passionate educators to apply for the position of Paraprofessional for the 2016-17 school year. Working at Achievement First is an ideal position for an educator with deep passion for instruction who is eager to gain rigorous development to help perfect his/her craft. In addition to participating in weekly professional development and team planning meetings, paraprofessionals receive consistent high-impact coaching and feedback from a school administrator or teacher-leader. Achievement First is committed to recruiting, developing and retaining excellent teammates.

Responsibilities of the Paraprofessional include but are not limited to:
  • Student achievement
    • Work with students one-on-one or in small groups
    • Ensure that all students work at their fullest potential
    • Serve as an in-house substitute teacher when necessary
    • Implement the Achievement First curriculum, systems, and philosophy on a daily basis
  • Role modeling
  • Attend school daily, with the exceptions of School related holidays and vacations as noted in the annual school calendar
  • Model the school's REACH (Respect, Enthusiasm, Achievement, Citizenship, and Hard Work) values and set the standard for professional behavior
  • Personal and professional growth
    • Participate in coaching and professional development to improve instructional practice, especially as it relates to discipline, student relationships, and school culture
    • Attend all Achievement First professional development workshops

Educational Background and Work Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree or associates degree from a competitive college or university OR?
  • Completion of a teacher assistant pre-employment training program approved by the RI Department of Education and a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
Compensation

Salary for this position is very competitive and commensurate with experience. Additionally, Achievement First offers a comprehensive benefits package. Teachers receive funds for supplies and materials as well as a laptop computer.
