Concept Schools

 

Teachers in our network are a very diverse and dynamic group from different educational backgrounds and cultures. A Director's responsibility is to write curriculum and facilitate professional development that will build capacity in our teachers. Working closely with other Content Directors this position entails understanding the Concept Schools' Vision and Mission; to develop students who are academically prepared to gain college acceptance and have the necessary skills to be successful in the world beyond. We strive for 100% college acceptance and we know that our teachers must understand the Common Core, NWEA, and state testing protocols. 

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and support to Concept's network of 30 schools throughout 7 states; developing curriculum, assessments, and overall literacy programs, for core subjects in grades 3-5, with a focus on foundational skills; identifying and optimizing resources for school communities to achieve specific benchmark goals; communicating policies, practices, and procedures to school leaders and teachers; working collaboratively with content directors to promote a balanced literacy approach to incorporate reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language in all classes; providing professional development for 3rd thru 5th grade elementary teachers in support of a developed vision plan that helps students to master subject-specific content.

 

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Master's Degree (Bachelor's degree depending on experience)
  • Minimum of 7 years as an elementary classroom teacher in grades 3-5
  • Strong understanding of content areas: English, Math, Science, and Social Studies
  • Experience developing and implementing curriculum 
  • Data analysis and recommendations for re-teaching 
  • Experience with Common Core standards and the instructional shifts delivery of these standards entail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and reach consensus 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers to include desktop management, file management and operations, and working in a network environment
  • Requires interstate traveling to visit the schools

 

 

Essential Tasks:

  • Plan and implement curriculum and provide instructional guidelines for the elementary schools under management and operation of Concept Schools.
  • Analyze instruction practices, systems, and controls in all Concept Schools and advise on improvements in their structure, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Make decisions on instruction supplies, textbooks and equipment; verify inventory; manage records.
  • Work closely with faculty in establishing program priorities and departmental vision
  • Plan and organize teacher training programs, conferences, workshops and Concept Events between charter schools in the network.
  • Writing and aligning curriculum for grades 3-5, playing major role in planning and writing part, and coordinate the efforts among the teachers in getting their feedback.
  • Develop and maintain departmental website and/or Social Media account such as Facebook/Twitter.
  • Implement and write standardized test practices;
  • Observe and follow teacher performance through school site visits and database, make recommendations, hold online periodic meetings with school leaders and department heads under Concept schools network;
  • Creating, using and communicating data effectively.
  • Accept other responsibilities as assigned. Exception to these requirements will be considered based on exemplary skills, training, and record of success.
