Description:
Teacher - Special Education
Job Description
Attention Special Education Teachers! If you are truly excited about teaching, want to have a significant impact on the community, and enjoy the experience of working on a highly skilled team, consider joining us at the Bansbach Academy. We believe there are a few things that set us apart from the typical school environment. Like a public school, we are approved through the Colorado Department of Education. Additionally, we are accredited by the national accreditation agency, AdvancEd. We work hard to provide students who have experienced trauma with an educational environment that helps them to heal and grow into independent healthy individuals who are able tocontribute to their community. How do we do this? We teach the individual student. We meet the students where they are at academically and socially, and we shift our supports, depending on the student’s CURRENT need. We are excellent at what we do. How did we get to this place of excellence?
- We value relationships between the student and the staff member. This is of utmost priority to us, since it is very difficult to teach struggling learners without first establishing positive relationships with them. As you enter our school, we help you get to know the strengths and challenges of each and every child. This support continues through the year as students grow and their needs shift.
- We know that we are better together! We cultivate professional relationships between employees. Every teacher has a team member in the classroom and collaborates multiple times each week with multidisciplinary teams. Supervisors provide supervision to individuals and to teams. You are not alone in your work with students. We grow and transform together.
- We value the art of teaching and building curriculum. We understand the need for teachers to grow and develop within their professions, and we fully support that growth through ongoing professional development AND by protecting teacher’s time. Our Special Educators will not be burdened with massive IEP caseloads and we will work with them on building the skills to develop high quality IEPs. In order to provide high quality differentiated lessons, and to support IEP development, teachers need time to plan and prepare. This includes not only a plan period for your subject area, but also flexible time Wednesday afternoons to support with any other responsibilities outside of instructional planning. Additionally, we dedicate a team of staff to manage state testing- that way, you can focus on your craft without the interruption of proctoring state tests. Need materials for a project? We have that covered so that you don’t need to spend your own money on classroom supplies. Our teachers frequently express that they appreciate the freedom to explore various behavior supports, curriculum, differentiation methods, and even coping techniques and tools for students.
- Benefits? Of course, we know that we would not be as good at what we do if we did not take time to care for ourselves. We provide healthcare, scheduled time off, additional paid time off, not to mention that you do not need to find a substitute- we have that covered. There are so many more benefits – the list goes on! ...but your time is important. If this sounds like the kind of school you have been looking for, please complete an application. We are happy to answer any questions and provide additional information upon request.
