Explore Schools is seeking a Recruitment Manager with outstanding interpersonal skills, a genuine enthusiasm for systems creation, and most important, a strong eye for talent. The ideal candidate has at least two years of recruitment experience within the education sector and a passion for mission-driven work in partnership and service of our school communities. Additionally, you are or possess the following:

  • You are willing to engage in identity work necessary to heighten your own awareness and improve your capacity to view talent work through an anti-white supremacy lens
  • You operate with professional integrity
  • You are flexible and able to switch between priorities and meet a diverse set of expectations and workstreams in support of your team’s goals
  • You exercise a growth mindset when thinking about your own work and others
  • You recover from mistakes or misses through reflection, ownership, and collaboration
  • You are able to create and maintain systems that enhance team efficiency
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Some teaching experience or work in schools preferred
  • 2+ years of recruitment experience preferred


The Recruitment Manager will work collaboratively with other Recruitment members and with leadership and staff across Explore Schools to identify, attract, and select diverse, high-quality candidates for our schools and network. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Continue to evaluate and adopt hiring practices that stamp equity, cultural competence, and equity as key priorities for the organization
  • Support hiring managers by coordinating a smooth, tailored recruitment process from identification of qualified applicants through all steps leading to a hiring decision
  • Build authentic partnerships with hiring managers and selection committee members to ensure alignment of the recruitment process with requirements of the role
  • Support and advocate for candidates through the full recruitment cycle from application to final candidacy decision
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR teammates on elements of the recruitment process such as reference checks, salary setting, and sharing of benefits information with prospective new hires


  • Develop innovative strategies for researching and cultivating an identity and experience-diverse pool of candidates
  • Build the brand of Explore Schools by creating and strategically sharing marketing materials
  • Design and manage targeted outreach strategies with the goal of finding great staff across instruction, culture, leadership, and operations
  • Consult on and work directly to leverage social media platforms as a mechanism for reaching prospective applicants for full-time roles
  • Plan and attend local, regional career fairs, and virtual career fairs in addition to other recruitment-related events
  • Conduct prospective partner organization research

Data and Project Management

  • Support team initiatives and execution on team’s strategic priorities
  • Execute and support data tracking, reporting, and analysis
  • Proactively research and learn best practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the talent space
  • Support with the creation of tools and trainings for hiring managers on recruitment best practices to ensure a positive candidate interview experience and equitable selection process
  • Support with team operations and logistics including management of trackers, data tools, and knowledge management systems

People Management

  • May or may not manage other teammates or external consultants

Explore Schools is a network of 8 charter schools located in Canarsie, Crown Heights, and Flatbush communities of Brooklyn, NY. Our network office is located in DUMBO, Brooklyn. For this specific role, in-person work is required. We'll be able to share more specifics around work expectations if you are to move forward in the interview process.
