The Special Projects Associate is a key member of the network team working collaboratively with various school and network staff to help Explore meet its mission. Reporting to the Director of Special Projects, this person will support the planning and execution of initiatives in a variety of buckets including but not limited to: monthly meetings for various senior leaders, network-wide trainings and events, office administration and culture, and social media and marketing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Special Projects and Board Support

  • Partner with Director of Special Projects on cross-team projects including developing trackers, project managing, and offering support where needed.
  • Provide scheduling and administrative support for Explore Schools Board of Trustees. This includes scheduling board calls and meetings, compiling data and other material as requested by the Board, and attending meetings to support with technology and take minutes.
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team as needed with special projects (e.g. materials for presentations, communications, project management, data reporting).

Event & Meeting Planning

  • Provide logistical support and oversight for major cross-network events including, in-service days in November, January, and February, Leader PD in July, and Preservice in August.
  • Support planning and execution (including presentation creation and operation, note taking, and material distribution) of regular meetings for different constituents including ESI senior leaders, ESI team meetings, principal meetings, and special events such as staff workshops and team celebrations
  • Plan and facilitate org-wide meetings and special events (e.g. Annual Holiday party, ESI team meetings).

Office Management & Administrative Support

  • Ensure office space is well-maintained, including stocked with supplies and snacks, and staff have access to the materials and technology equipment needed to be successful in their day to day work.
  • Perform administrative duties including data entry and credit card reconciliation.
  • Manage network logins and support ESI staff and schools with access to network accounts including Google, Zoom, Amazon, Canva, etc.
  • Provide ad hoc administrative and logistical support to ESI leadership team as delegated by the Director of Special Projects or senior members of ESI.
  • Partner with Executive Director and Director of Special Projects to build strong network team culture by supporting with logistics and content for staff meetings, events, and communications, including weekly office newsletter.
  • Troubleshoot daily issues with copiers, phones, technology, as needed.

Social Media and Communications

  • Work with the Director of Special Projects to ensure Explore’s website is up-to-date with relevant content.
  • Execute on social media strategy designed to support teacher and student recruitment efforts.
  • Co-manage our network’s Instagram account and ensure relevant and timely content.

Explore Schools is a network of 8 charter schools located in Canarsie, Crown Heights, and Flatbush communities of Brooklyn, NY. Our network office is located in DUMBO, Brooklyn. For the 21-22 school year, our schools are operating with a fully in-person model. For this specific role, in-person work is required.
