Position: Math Coach - District Certified as an Math Teacher Location: Assigned to Curriculum & Instruction Division TLC Center State Date: August 2022 Reports to: Director/Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction Compensation: Refer to current teacher salary scale on District website Work Year: 10 months
POSITION GOAL: To create and sustain an educational environment conducive to the fulfillment of the District’s Mission so that maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. A teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction based on the approved curriculum and Common Core State Standards to help students move towards academic proficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required: 1. Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as an Middle School or Secondary Math Teacher 2. Passed Praxis II for Middle School or Secondary Mathematics 3. Bachelor’s degree or Master degree 4. Student Teaching 5. Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children’s Educational Software etc. 6. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. 7. Show evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning while shows evidence of knowledge while increasing student achievement 8. Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks. 9. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position 10. Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry in the State of Delaware. 11. Must be able to support teachers and/or faculty remotely - based upon the needs of the building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District. Work in conjunction with school administrators to improve mathematics achievement in designated schools. 2. Coach and consult with both tenured and non-tenured teachers regarding the use and implementation of the Common Core State Standards in mathematics understanding the curriculum, delivering instruction and classroom management strategies. 3. Develop and present workshops for teachers that support CCS (school-based In service sessions, after school workshops and summer workshops) 4. Model best instructional practices and effective classroom management techniques. 5. Participate in district technology workshops in order to meaningfully embed technology into math instruction and assessment. 6. Have a strong understanding of the content in order to develop quality formative and summative assessments 7. Serve as a resource to schools, administrators, and teacher regarding curricular and assessment issues. 8. Collaborate with building school success teams, PLC’s, and intervention teams 9. Assist in data interpretation that supports student achievement 10. Work with staff on special projects and training relating to best practices strategies. 11. Collaborate and assist other state mathematics specialists through Math Coalition 12. Other duties as assigned are determined by district or program need.
