Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Employment Type: Full-time, in-person role for the 2022-2023 school year. We are currently hiring for Geometry.

We offer a competitive teacher salary that is higher than the local district, and commensurate based on years of lead teaching experience. Certified teachers are also eligible to earn a signing bonus.

Core Responsibilities Include:
Planning & Instruction

  • Prepare, internalize, and deliver a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
  • Use scholar work and assessment data to inform instruction and targeted intervention
  • Engage in weekly coaching meetings to deepen content expertise and develop instructional mastery

Student Mentorship & Family Engagement

  • Facilitate student Circles weekly and mentor a group of student?s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success
  • Respond to students' behavior in real-time with school-wide intervention systems
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for families to communicate school-wide information
  • Track and input daily student behavior feedback to share with families, leaders, and Student Support Team

School-Based Responsibilities & Faculty Engagement

  • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school?s values, student management policies, and culture
  • Own arrival duty, recess or lunch duty, and dismissal duty
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences, student orientation, and other school-wide events
  • Engage in ongoing professional development programming, including 3 weeks of faculty training in the summer and weekly PD sessions throughout the school year
  • Engage in faculty Circle once a week and complete faculty Badge Work

Certification Requirements:
Candidates applying to teach this course must: (a) have an active Tennessee teaching license in Math 6-12, or (b) have a valid out-of-state license that is transferrable to Tennessee, or (c) be eligible and willing to enroll in a Valor-approved Educator Preparation Program (must have a Bachelor's degree).

  • Competitive salary schedule that is higher than the local district, with salaries equitably determined based on years of teaching experience.
