Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Full-time, in-person role for the 2022-2023 school year.

Salary: We offer a competitive teacher salary that is higher than the local district, and commensurate based on years of lead teaching experience. Certified teachers are also eligible to earn a signing bonus.

Core Responsibilities Include:
Caseload Management & Instruction

  • Differentiate and adapt lessons to support scholars in a resource setting that need additional practice to reach grade-level standards.
  • Develop and manage individualized education programs (IEPs) for students on your caseload
  • Collect and track data on individual student skills to determine the effectiveness of programming and measure progress toward IEP goals
  • Maintain special education reports to be in compliance with federal, state, and local district requirements
  • Collaborate and co-teach with general education/core content teachers to ensure the successful implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals to serve the needs of individual students
  • Participate in weekly coaching meetings to internalize your content and improve your practice
  • Establish and maintain communication with families to share academic and behavioral progress

Student Mentorship & Family Engagement

  • Support with student Circles weekly to develop academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
  • Respond to student behavior in real-time with school-wide intervention systems
  • Serve as the main point-of-contact for families to communicate school-wide information
  • Track and input daily student behavior feedback to share with families, leaders, and Student Support Team

School-Based Responsibilities & Faculty Engagement

  • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school?s values, student management policies, and culture
  • Own arrival duty, recess or lunch duty, and dismissal duty
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences, student orientation, and other school-wide events
  • Engage in ongoing professional development programming, including 3 weeks of faculty training in the summer and weekly PD sessions throughout the school year
  • Engage in faculty Circle once a week and complete faculty Badge Work

Certification Requirements:
Candidates must: (a) have an active Tennessee teaching license in Special Education K-12, (b) have an out-of-state license that'll be transferred to Tennessee by July 2022, or (c) be eligible and willing to enroll in a Valor-approved Educator Preparation Program (must have a Bachelor's degree).

  • We offer a competitive base teacher salary that is higher than local traditional district schools, and salaries are equitably determined based on years of teaching experience.
