Terms of Employment: Minimum 12-week Assignment

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware License and Grades 9-12 Certification in required areas in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
  • Successful completion of Praxis II exams
  • Additional qualifications and/or alternatives as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and Administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively teach to a diverse group of High School students.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students while covering the Delaware Standards for the apprropriate grade level.
  • Creates a safe and engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
  • Prepares for class assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Encourages all students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of all students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.
  • Diagnoses the learning disabilities of all students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Retains and prepares select student work for year-end art show in collaboration with other school art teachers.
  • Saves, maintains, and displays student work throughout the building every marking period.
  • Works cooperatively with all staff and parents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Standard Requirements:
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
  • Tuberculin Test
  • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
