License and Certification Qualifications: Georgia teaching certification required.Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred.
Experience Qualifications: Five years of successful teaching experience required.
Skills Qualifications: Knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum with in-depth knowledge of content in field(s) of certification; knowledge of techniques for integrating curriculum, GCPS policies, and effective instructional practices; understanding of the teaching/learning process; ability to infuse technology into instruction to increase student learning; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office staff, school based staff, students, parents, and the community; and excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for guiding the application of research to support instructional decisions, designing professional development, and providing team and classroom support to ensure collaboration produces shared understandings and development of professional practice.
1. Promote growth and learning opportunities within the district to improve instruction.
a. Work exclusively with math teachers with less than three years experience in Georgia, focusing on teacher reflection and continuous improvement.
b. Facilitate curriculum meetings for math teachers focusing on data analysis, review of student work, and quality instruction and assessment.
c. Collaborate with math curriculum chairpersons at each grade level to address student achievement data and teachers? responses to professional learning needs.
d. Model Quality-Plus Teaching Strategies specific to mathematics instruction, including individual and small group, to increase student achievement in math.
e. Attend professional learning opportunities within the district and state specific to improve mathematics instruction.
f. Develop and facilitate opportunities to increase parent involvement, particularly with mathematics instruction.
g. Collaborate with leadership team to increase support to teachers.
2. Oversee accountability related to data analysis.
a. Compile and analyze data from classroom visitations conducted by school leadership team.
b. Utilize StART (GCPS - Student Assessment Reporting Tool) to identify individual classes, teachers, and students who do not meet performance expectations on the Math Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT).
c. Utilize TestGate (GCPS ? Benchmark Assessment Tool) to identify individual classes, teachers, and students who do not meet performance expectations on the Math Benchmarks.
d. Develop an individual Results Based Evaluation System (RBES) goal specific to increase student achievement in math for all subgroups.
e. Implementation of the staff expectation rubric at the highest level.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.
