High School Teacher - Science - Chemistry/Environmental/Biology

Description:

 Prairie View High School, located in 27J Schools, is currently seeking a Science/Physics/Chemistry/Environmental Teacher to provide services to its students.  This is a full-time, or 1.0 FTE, position with benefits.

Responsibilities:  

1. Provide quality, research based classroom instruction in standards based classes including Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences.
2. Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff.
3. Teach and work with a diverse population.
4. Participate in staff development activities, staff meetings, and other assigned duties.

Qualifications:  

1. Certification/Licensing in Science as required by Colorado Department of Education
2. Must be "highly qualified" as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) by demonstrating subject matter competency.
3. Strength in physics or chemistry preferred
4. Successful experience in secondary education with an understanding of state standards in science.
5. An understanding of standards based education and a proven track record of working in a standards based classroom.
6. Knowledge of high school students' interests, needs, and abilities with a commitment and dedication to students and education.
7. Ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, and other staff members.
8. Bilingual preferred
