We are seeking a skilled full time High School Spanish teacher to join our team of faculty members beginning in August of 2024.
Steamboat Mountain School’s Spanish classes afford students active learning opportunities to engage with the language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is expected that the classes be taught almost entirely in the target language if not entirely in the target language. The goal of the program is to foster confident, empathetic, and global learners who strive to engage genuinely with other people and the Spanish language.
We are looking for candidates who have a professional educational background, Spanish language and content knowledge, and a passion for teaching and learning. Further, successful candidates ideally also possess familiarity with Understanding by Design curriculum, Project Based Learning, and an interest in inquiry and discussion based education. Those with experience in outdoor education, travel programs, or residential schools are strongly encouraged to apply.
Specific job responsibilities include:
Teaching 4 sections of Spanish
Leading outdoor trips and activities
Potentially leading a trip abroad for a month in the Spring
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Experience with either outdoor or travel education
A collaborative and self-motivated attitude
Sense of humor, optimism, and possess a growth mindset
Compensation and Benefits:
Steamboat Mountain School offers a rich and comprehensive benefits package for full time employees.
Salary range, $35,000 - $45,000
School paid Medical insurance including short term disability
Retirement contribution match after one year of service
Tuition remission benefits after two years of service
Approximately eight weeks of summer holiday and all school traditional holidays
On-campus housing may be available and will be part of the total compensation package
