POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the Coordinating Supervisor, the Teacher Coordinator will support the successful implementation and management of the Health and Biosciences and Arts, Media and Communication programs to include the Academy of Health Professions (AHP) and Biomedical Sciences: Project Lead the Way, Graphic Communications (PrintEd) and Interactive Media Productions. The Teacher Coordinator has the overall responsibility for ensuring the implementation and coordination of the duties and responsibilities necessary for the success of each program within the schools to which they are assigned.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Serving as the liaison between the school sites assigned and Coordinating Supervisor;

Assisting with media relations, marketing materials, advisory boards, and general outreach as it relates to the Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications;

Assisting with grant applications related to Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications programming;

Planning, conducting, and/or coordinating professional development for Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications staff;

Working with and supporting teachers to ensure that the Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications curriculum is followed and ascertain their instructional needs;

Assisting the Coordinating Supervisor in the development and administration of the Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications programs budget including local and grant funding;

Collecting and analyzing Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications programming data and preparing an annual report on the programs;

Serving as a liaison to school staff to ensure that the Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications programs are implemented with fidelity and that the programs of study are followed;

Planning career opportunities for students such as guest speakers, field trips, job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other experiential opportunities in collaboration with school staff and the Advisory Board;

Assist with and manage curriculum writing for Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications programs to align with MSDE, national standards, and PGCPS requirements;

Develop and process all orders for Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications program improvement and maintenance;

Develop and implement all Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications program improvement initiatives;

Facilitate professional development for teachers in collaboration with the Academy Coordinator;

Assist with the recruitment of students;

Coordinate with Academy of Health and Biosciences Coordinator and the Graphic Arts Media Communication Academy Coordinator to align programming efforts and support Academy teachers and students;

Attend and assist with Academy of Health and Biosciences and Graphic Arts Media Communication Academy strategic planning, team meetings, and professional development; and

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Knowledge of industry standards and MSDE, PGCPS and Health & Biosciences and Arts and Media Communications program curriculum and instruction;

Relates positively and interacts effectively with teachers, central office personnel, Advisory Board members, business partners, and general public;

Maintains accurate financial, inventory, and student data records;

Effective time management, documentation and organizational skills;

Demonstrated ability to develop and manage teams;

Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;

Ability to present ideas in business friendly or user friendly language;

Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail;

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure;

Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;

Strong instructional and facilitator skills;

Experience in collaborative planning and providing professional development;

Demonstrated strong leadership and administrative competency; and

Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in applicable field; experience working in a vocational education setting; five (5) years teaching in academic or vocational education required.



CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


Holds or is eligible for an Advanced Professional Certificate issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.




SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


No direct supervisory responsibilities.
