Special Education Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Location TBD, 2023-2024 School Year - $5,000 Signing Bonus (External Appplicants Only) Bonus requires a 3 year committment, will need to repay bonus if leave prior to end of year 3.

With tremendous community, staff, administrative and board support, Ottumwa schools has set out with an ambitious plan to improve every aspect of our student learning through significant investments in the classroom, lowering class sizes, increasing staff and student support, technology and facilities improvements.

The district has state of the art facilities for its students and athletes. Extensive remodel of its athletic facilities to include a multi million dollar remodel of Schafer Stadium to include an artificial turf field, track, bleachers and restrooms. The district is constructing a $4,500,000 multi-purpose facility at Evans Middle School to include a new wrestling room and two basketball courts. The district will spend close to $20,000,000 upgrading its facilities over the next 2-5 years without needing to bond for the funds.

Ottumwa offers a variety of amenities in an area rich in Iowa history. Extensive walking trails along the Des Moines River and 22 parks support a variety of outdoor activities including fishing, camping, disc golf, baseball, and softball, just to name a few. Our community is centered around Greater Ottumwa Park, with over 300 acres of park space and the site of many community events including the Pro Balloon Races and Oktoberfest. The Bridge View Center is a state-of-the-art event center featuring entertainment opportunities including concerts, comedy performers, wine pairings, and plays by the Ottumwa Community Players and Ottumwa Community Children's Playhouse. The district works with the Ottumwa Welcome and Connect Service to support our new staff in becoming familiar with the tremendous services and opportunities available in Ottumwa to its residents.
