Culinary Arts & Hospitality Teacher

General Position Description:
Responsible for the development, organization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the Hospitality and Tourism CTE pathway at Hanover Central High School.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed by the Indiana Department of Education to teach Culinary Arts & Hospitality, or able to obtain a Workplace Specialist in a related course-approved CTE pathway.
  • Proven culinary & hospitality management experience and expertise, with a strong foundation in culinary techniques, kitchen operations, nutrition, food safety practices, service and hospitality.
  • Previous teaching experience at the high school level or vocational education setting – preferred
  • Proficient in technology as related to education.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive culinary arts and hospitality curriculum tailored to the needs and interests of high school students, covering fundamental culinary techniques, food safety, nutrition, culinary theory, kitchen and hospitality management.
  • Create engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that incorporate hands-on cooking experiences, demonstrations, multimedia resources, and real-world applications to foster active learning and student participation.
  • Provide practical instruction and guidance to students in the kitchen, demonstrating proper cooking techniques, knife skills, food preparation methods, culinary terminology, nutrition, service, and hospitality.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment, enforcing food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and proper equipment usage to ensure a conducive learning environment.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that celebrates diversity, encourages creativity, and promotes teamwork, respect, and professionalism among students.
  • Support students in exploring post-secondary education and career pathways in the culinary arts, offering guidance, mentorship, and resources to help them pursue their academic and professional goals.
  • Select and order necessary classroom supplies and materials as provided in the classroom budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Salary: Compensation information is available in the Master Agreement between the Hanover Organization of Professional Educators and Hanover Community School Corporation.
