Job Description For a full job description, please see "attachments" link above

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • be currently receiving PERS payment,
  • have retired from the district with effective or highly effective evaluation rating(s),
  • have received average or above average confidential reference rating(s),
  • have been retired from WCSD for a minimum of one year if you accepted an ESIP separation (refer to your ESIP contract), and
  • must hold a current or be able to obtain the necessary certified teacher licensure for the position in which you are being recommended for hire.

We highly recommend that Retirees contact their PERS representative to discuss how or if your PERS benefits would be impacted when you return as a critical needs hire and if you may have any restrictions that will prohibit you from being hired into a PERS benefitted position (i.e., retired with an underaged penalty). For documentation purposes, we are requesting that Retirees upload a copy of the correspondence to the Attachments section of the application confirming they are eligible to return in a critical needs PERS benefitted position.

PLACEMENT PROCEDURES:

Note: The Retiree will not apply directly to a position until directed to do so based on placement.

  • The request to hire a retired Washoe County School District employee is initiated by the hiring principal and not the Retiree.
  • The hiring principal/manager collaborates with a member of HR Talent Acquisition to complete the critical needs placement process.
  • The Retiree will be informed to attach their application to the position.
  • The hiring principal/manager will then contact the Retiree for an interview and if selected, the hiring principal/manager will complete the Right to Hire Outside of the Pool form recommending the Retiree for hire. The hiring principal/manager will also complete the Electronic Request to Hire form in Search Soft.
  • A member of the Human Resources Talent Acquisition Division will notify the Retiree of the following:
    • school placement and contract start date,
    • directions to complete the PERS Reemployment/Reenrollment form with submission instructions, and
    • expectations when contacted by a WCSD Human Resources Partner notifying the Retiree of next steps in the WCSD Welcoming (onboarding/orientation) hiring process.
