Position Summary

St. Saviour Catholic Academy is seeking a faith-filled and passionate Second Grade Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year, beginning September 2, 2025. This position plays a vital role in both the academic and spiritual development of students, particularly through preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic educator committed to fostering a joyful and disciplined classroom rooted in Catholic values and academic excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily instruction in English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Religion aligned with New York State standards and Catholic teachings

  • Prepare students for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, in collaboration with the Academy’s leadership and the parish of St. Saviour Church

  • Integrate prayer, liturgical learning, and Gospel values into classroom life

  • Create a classroom environment that encourages respect, curiosity, and a love of learning

  • Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student growth

  • Communicate consistently and effectively with parents regarding student progress and sacramental preparation

  • Participate actively in school-wide events, liturgies, staff meetings, and parent conferences

  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support school initiatives and community-building

  • Maintain accurate student records, portfolios, and report cards


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Prior teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic or private school setting

  • Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of the Sacraments and the ability to model and teach the faith

  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills
