Position: ESL/MLL Tutor - Casual/Seasonal

Location: To Be Determined

State Date: September 2025

Reports to: Principal

Compensation: $18.50 hour or $20.50 hour depending on classification

Work Year: 10 months - up to 30 per hours per week

POSITION GOAL:

To support identified English Language Learners by providing direct English Language instruction and push in support during class time. Must be able to teach/serve students in person.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

1. Must have a Bachelor degree

2. ESL experience preferred

3. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.

4. Shows evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective with multilingual learners.

5. Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks.

6. Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on the Child Abuse Registry in the State of Delaware.

7. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position

8. Must be able to teach/serve students in person

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Provide individual and/or group English Language instruction to ELL students utilizing ESOL strategies and the designated curriculum under the supervision and guidance of the ESL Specialist.

2. Provide ESL push-in support to identified ELLs during regular class time or enrichment/intervention.

3. Collaborate with teachers of ELL students on a regular basis in order to Tutor and/or co-teach ELL students in the regular classroom

4. Adapt instructional materials as necessary to meet the needs of ELL students

5. Comply with Federal, State, and Local Regulations and Policies

6. Accurately complete all required paperwork within the designated timelines

7. Utilize all available resources materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, website, Collaborative agreement, professional code of conduct, administrative procedures, School district board policies, etc) to complete required paperwork, maintain professionalism and to avoid
potential violations/noncompliance.

8. Cooperate with Federal, State and Local Agency Personnel during alternative education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute Resolution activities.

9. Provide a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff.
