POSITION: Special Education Teacher of Adults - English/Social Studies: James H. Groves High School
(Reported Time Position – No Benefits/Reported Time Salary Schedule)
LOCATION: James H. Groves High School/Glasgow High School

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or related field
  • Hold a State of DE Certification in secondary (MS or HS) Special Education or English or Social Studies
  • Minimum of 2 years of successful experience teaching K-12 or adult learners
  • Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated competency in classroom teaching
  • Proficient in the use of technology; specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
Salary: Commensurate with appropriate schedule

Position Description: Applicants for the Instructor position within the Adult Education program must prepares instruction and activities using the program’s curriculum to assigned classes and courses. All candidates must have the ability to a manage classroom students with different instructional level. All candidates should be proficient with technology and have the ability to integrate into teaching. The applicant must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours in schools and/or community settings.

  • Teaching students in assigned subject area(s) with an emphasis on reasoning and problem solving in a hybrid and/or virtual learning environment.
  • Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.
  • Deliver prepared lessons for students associated with the State of Delaware Adult Education curriculum.
  • Instruct students individually and/or in groups using various teaching methods, and the Delaware Adult Basic Education state curricula.
  • Attend staff meetings and state and local sponsored professional development activities periodically.
  • Refer adult learners with challenging life issues to appropriate resources.
  • Contact students with excessive absences
  • Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports
  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom area
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with program’s policies and practices.
