A Strong Sense of Belonging
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Upper School French Teacher to join our dynamic team for the 2025–2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will bring a deep enthusiasm for language acquisition, a strong commitment to student-centered instruction, and a genuine appreciation for cultures from the French-speaking world.
The successful candidate will create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that supports a wide range of learners and inspires students to engage meaningfully with the French language. Through innovative teaching and authentic cultural exploration, the teacher will help students build both linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues to foster critical thinking, creativity, and global awareness, nurturing a lifelong love of language learning in your students.
In addition to four sections of classroom teaching, responsibilities include:
Coaching or leading another co-curricular, or teaching a fifth section
Lead international trip to French-speaking countries
Serving as a student advisor
Chaperoning class trips
Facilitating a winterim-week experiential program
Actively participate in the extracurricular life of the School
Additional duties as deemed necessary by the School
What You’ll Need to Get the Job Done
Near-native French and English proficiency are required
A bachelor’s degree in French or a language-related field is required; a graduate degree is preferred
3+ years of teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated classroom management skills
An attitude that exemplifies teamwork and personal responsibility
The ability to make effective and appropriate use of technology in instruction
A dedication to maintaining strict confidentiality in all matters
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and flexible approach.
