The Role
As a School Nurse at Meeting Street Academy, you will be the primary health care provider on campus, partnering daily with students, families, and staff to support the physical, emotional, and developmental well-being of our students. You will provide direct nursing care, manage health plans, and ensure compliance with all state and federal health regulations. You will be a trusted resource and advocate, helping to remove health-related barriers to learning.
Core Responsibilities:
Direct Student Care: Assess, triage, treat, and refer illnesses or injuries; administer medications and first aid as needed.
Health Plans & Compliance: Develop, review, and maintain Individual Health Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and 504 health accommodations. Ensure compliance with immunization, screening, and reporting requirements.
Collaboration & Consultation: Partner with teachers, staff, families, and external health providers to coordinate care, follow up on referrals, and promote student wellness.
Recordkeeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate health records, analyze school health data, prepare reports, and communicate trends or concerns with leadership.
Crisis Response & Preparedness: Participate in emergency response protocols, support health screenings, and assist in health-related interventions or outbreaks.
Professional Development & Advocacy: Keep current on school health practices, public health guidelines, and nursing standards; champion health equity within the school community.
Skills and Characteristics:

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
High capacity for organization, follow-through, and managing multiple priorities
Educational Background & Work Experience:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required; School Nurse certification preferred
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field preferred
Experience in pediatric, school, or community health nursing is strongly preferredFamiliarity with state and local school health regulations and protocols
Current CPR certification is required
Compensation and Benefits:
The starting salary range for the School Nurse is $48,854 - $55,744, and is commensurate with experience. Meeting Street Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
