ELEMENTARY TECHNOLOGY TEACHER

Job Summary

WPACES is seeking a high energy, innovative technology teacher to join our professional community. The technology teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student an awareness of the role of technology in education and one that uses all forms of technology (appropriate use of computers, their functions, Microsoft Office programs, use of instructional video, etc.) and its motor skill requirements (typing, drag/drop, toggle, etc.)

Responsibilities and Duties

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties and requirements:

  • Provide focus instruction on using technology and other media.
  • Proficiency in using common computer programs (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Google Slides)
  • Create lessons and units on computer/technology literacy concepts using Chromebooks and other media for students in K-5.
  • Collaborate with K-5 teachers; incorporate technology to enhance learning in homeroom classes (e.g. English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science).
  • Develop and implement innovative methods for providing instruction to students.
  • Create an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.
  • Instructs students in the proper use, care and safe handling of equipment.
  • Evaluates academic growth of students and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other record keeping activities as necessary.
  • Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment and tools.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • MS Office
  • Basic computer hardware competency
  • Basic software competency' loading programs
  • Experience with common software packages including: (word processing, database, spreadsheet, multimedia, presentation and graphics on multiple platforms)
  • Ability to provide technological troubleshooting as needed
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational skills

Requirements/Certifications

  • Teaching for at least 2 years in Technology Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Engineering, Business or Elementary Education with a concentration in a S.T.E.A.M. subject
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement to teach Technology Education (highly preferred)
  • In the event that the need arises, you will need to be able to: lift, pull or push up to 15 lbs, walk a standard flight of stairs, or stand or sit for up to 45 minutes
