Job Description

Position Title: Credit Recovery Teacher

Location: Española Valley High School

Reports To: Principal

Work Schedule: Regular Teacher Contract Hours

Position Summary

The Credit Recovery Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and support to high school students enrolled in credit recovery courses. The teacher will monitor student progress, facilitate learning through an online or blended instructional model, and provide individualized academic assistance to ensure students successfully earn required credits toward graduation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and supervision for students enrolled in credit recovery courses. Facilitate online and/or blended learning platforms to support student progress.
  • Monitor student learning, attendance, and participation through the online platform.
  • Provide regular communication and feedback to students and families regarding academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records, including grades and progress reports.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English learners.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to help students master content and complete coursework.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to align instruction and interventions.
  • Enforce school and district policies, maintaining a safe and positive classroom learning environment.
  • Collaborate with school staff to support student success and ensure alignment with district curriculum standards.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required).
  • Valid New Mexico Teaching License with appropriate endorsement(s) (required).
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and technology-based instructional programs (preferred).
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to supporting students’ academic success and graduation goals.

Work Environment

  • Position follows the regular teacher contract hours and work calendar.
  • The Credit Recovery Teacher will report directly to the Principal of Española Valley High School.

Salary

Salary to be established on an annual basis through the adoption of the Salary Schedules.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of Board Policies.
