Job Description: Classified Employee-Paraprofessional
General Description
Under the supervision of the Superintendent/Principal, and the direction of a ful y credentialed
teacher; to perform a variety of instructional activities; to assist in the conduct of intensified
learning experiences; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel;
and to do other related works as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and in the
conduct of instructional exercises.
2. Tutors individuals and smal groups of pupils to reinforce and fol ow-up learning activities
3. Monitors and assists pupils in dril , practice, and study activities as a fol ow-up to the
presentation of concepts by instructional personnel.
4. Directs students into safe learning activities and functions, and assists in the shaping of
appropriate social behaviors.
5. Assists in the management of pupil behavior through the use of positive strategies and
techniques.
6. Prepares a variety of instructional materials and learning aids.
7. Maintains a variety of records and files, including confidential pupil records and
information
8. Assists pupils in the operation of instructional equipment
9. Requisitions, stores and maintains an appropriate inventory of instructional materials,
supplies and equipment
10. Assists in maintaining an orderly, attractive, and positive learning environment.
11. Supervises students at lunch, recess, field trips, and playground activities.
12. Administers routine first aid and requests assistance for non-routine injury or il ness.




13. Performs appropriately in situations requiring tact and diplomacy in dealing with the
public, parents, students, and staff.
14. Makes quick, responsible decisions regarding student welfare and safety, including
student conduct and self-discipline.
15. Documents behavioral issues and assists in grading assignments.
16. Participates in applicable staff development programs and training.
17. Brings personal and educational needs of students to the attention of the classroom
teacher and/or resource teacher/specialist.
18. May have to serve as a 1:1 for a specific student
19. Performs related work as required.
Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma or High School Equivalent Certificate
Qualification Requirements

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails. Ability to
write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and smal
group situations to students and co-workers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in al units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic or specific written or oral
instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in routine situations.




Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Fingerprint check and TB test must be successful y completed by the first day of service. First
Aid/CPR certificates must be acquired and renewed as required. Must pass county ESSA
assessment. Must obtain/maintain any mandated certifications or training as needed.
Working Relationships
Ability to interact with students, parents, and other employees in an open, friendly, and
professional manner.
Technology
Basic skil s and knowledge of the tools of technology application as applied to student learning
and teacher productivity. Able to perform word processing tasks and work with spreadsheets
and graphics as wel as possess internet skil s. Ability to create Power Point presentations.
Ability to understand Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
