STANISLAUS COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION

CLASS TITLE: Center Supervisor, Child & Family Services
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned Director II, plan, organize and supervise the activities and operations of the
Head Start Program Centers; assure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable State
regulations; train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Plan, organize and supervise the activities and operations of Head Start and/or Head Start Centers; assure
compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies
and procedures.
Train, support and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select employees and recommend
transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions.
Drive a vehicle to various sites to conduct child observations; provide feedback to staff; assist teachers in the
needs assessment and referral process for individual children, attend IEP meetings as requested.
Establish, maintain and support collaboration with families to meet children’s developmental needs, establish
school readiness goals, nurture effective relationships and resolve concerns.
Maintain required adult/child ratios and supervision in the classroom by securing substitutes, involving parents
and community volunteers as appropriate in the activities of the program and supervising their volunteer efforts.
Conduct program monitoring to ensure compliance. Effectively follow up on compliance issues, delegating to
appropriate staff and documenting timely correction.
Serve as the Head Start liaison with school districts and other agencies; communicate with administrators,
personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities, resolve issues and exchange information.
Provide technical assistance and support to staff; conduct regular staff meetings, case conferencing, and
trainings for program staff; attend a variety of case conferences, workshops and IEP and other meetings as
assigned.
Review, analyze, and prepare accurate records and reports required for individual child, class and site, within
established timelines, ensuring compliance. Follow up and correct any inaccuracies.
Assist with implementation of monthly parent education activities/meetings as requested.
Monitor the center budgets; order supplies and materials as needed.
Conduct home visits as required.
Participate with the training program of the agency.
Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Ability to perform duties with independence, greater scope, high volume and complex caseload.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
An Associate Degree in Child Development or related field is required, including:
3 units infant/toddler development (if serving infants and toddlers)

3 units adult supervision/administration
A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is desirable. A minimum of three years’
teaching experience in a preschool or infant/toddler program is preferred.
LICENSE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
California Child Care: Preventative Health and Safety Certificate of Completion (Includes Pediatric CPR/First
Aid).
California Child Development Site Supervisor or higher-level permit.
Required to provide own transportation. If using own vehicle in the course of employment, must have valid
driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Some positions in this class may be required to possess bilingual skills in a designated second language.
