STANISLAUS COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
CLASS TITLE: Child Development Supervisor
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of a Manager, Director or higher-level administrator, implements activities of more than
one program type; monitors and provides technical assistance and training; and maintains a positive relationship
with community agencies.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Monitors and provides technical assistance and training.
Maintains a positive relationship with community agencies.
May supervise implementation of a major program components.
May supervise multiple sites.
Administer selected developmental assessments as needed.
Coordinates assigned projects.
Development and implementation of current early childhood education principles, practices, methods, and
techniques of operating a high-quality program.
Assists assigned agencies and programs with meeting requirements of federal and state contracts and guidelines
through analysis, interpretation, and implementation support.
Assists site staff or agencies in meeting requirements of federal/state and local guidelines and regulations.
Assists assigned agencies and programs in developing and maintaining linkages with parent and community
groups and public agencies.
Administer selected developmental assessments as needed.
Assists with developing training and technical assistance needs of staff and parents.
Represents the agency in meetings and conferences.
Supervises and evaluates assigned Child Family Services staff.
Maintains needed records, reports and other documentation.
May assist with budget development and tracking of project budgets.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Current trends and practices of early childhood development.
Head Start Performance Standards/regulations, California Education Code, California State Department of
Education Funding Terms and Conditions and all other applicable regulations.
Various community socioeconomic and sociocultural populations of service areas.
Community social service agencies.
ABILITY TO:
Monitor and evaluate delegate and SCOE programs.
Schedule, direct, coordinate, evaluate, make independent decisions.
Work well with people of all socioeconomic and sociocultural backgrounds.
Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Child Development Program Director Permit and three years or more experience in early childhood, child
development or related field.
LICENSE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Child Development Program Director Permit.
Required to provide own transportation. If using own vehicle in the course of employment, must have valid
driver’s license and proof of insurance.
ENVIRONMENT:
Office and classroom environment.
Traveling to various locations to conduct work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone.
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Seeing to read a variety of materials.
Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate, neat, timely fashion; to make
good judgments and decisions; and to evaluate the results of decisions and judgments.
