Job Title: Elementary Teacher - Special Education
Job Type: Certified - Position - Special Education (preferred)
SUMMARY:
Shortlidge Elementary School is seeking an Elementary Special Education teacher (preferred) to create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Primary Function/Duties Include:
• Design and implement instructional program for students with intellectual disabilities that incorporates students’ individualized education program
• Adapting materials based on Individual Student needs
• Develop IEPs and monitor student progress
• Effective implementation of behavioral intervention strategies
• Work collaboratively with psychologist, speech, occupational and physical therapists
• Manage paraprofessional staff assigned to classroom
• Effectively communicate orally and in writing
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Certificate(s):
Initial, Continuing or Advanced Delaware Licensure
Certified K-6
Certification in Special Education
