Description:
Westminster Public Schools seeks a Construction Teacher. Located just 15 minutes outside of downtown Denver, Westminster Public Schools is a culturally and ethnically diverse school district that offers a friendly work environment, a very competitive salary, and benefits. Teachers beginning salary starts at $65,299 per year. The beginning salary for teachers with an MA degree is $72,639 per year. Top-earning teachers may earn up to $100,000 per year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Ability to obtain or possess a Secondary CTE Architecture and Construction Credential or ability to obtain. Requires content knowledge and occupational experience. All requirements can be found here: https://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeprof/cteworksheets/architectureandconstruction
*Demonstrates understanding of business and marketing coursework.
*Knowledge and/or experience in CTE preferred
*Knowledge and/or experience with SkillsUSA (Skilled Trades student organization/CTSO)
*Willingness to engage in school-wide high school advisory and mentoring programs
*Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, staff members, parents and administrators
*Has knowledge and experience of and/or willingness to gain knowledge of Competency-based Education approaches
*Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
*Bilingual desired
*Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
*Experience working with high-school age students preferred
Construction Technology Teacher Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Construction Safety & Risk Management – Knowledge of OSHA standards and industry safety practices; ability to teach and enforce safe operation of hand tools, power tools, machinery, and jobsite protocols.
*Tool & Equipment Proficiency – Demonstrated skill in the proper use, maintenance, and care of common construction tools, equipment, and shop machinery. *Blueprint & Technical Drawing Interpretation – Ability to read, interpret, and teach construction drawings, schematics, specifications, and basic technical sketching.
*Applied Construction Mathematics – Strong understanding of measurement, estimating, geometry, and applied mathematical concepts used in construction and MEP systems.
*Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) Fundamentals – Foundational knowledge of electrical theory, plumbing systems, HVAC concepts, and basic system troubleshooting.
*Building Materials & Methods Knowledge – Understanding of construction materials (wood, steel, concrete, composites, sustainable products), their properties, applications, and current industry practices.
*Hands-On Instructional Expertise – Ability to design, supervise, and assess project-based learning experiences that simulate real-world construction tasks.
*Construction Technology & Emerging Practices – Familiarity with construction-related technology tools, digital measurement devices, and industry trends.
*Career & Industry Knowledge – Understanding of construction career pathways, apprenticeships, certifications (e.g., OSHA-10, NCCER), and workforce expectations.
*Business & Project Management Fundamentals – Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting basics, and collaborative teamwork practices.
*Communication & Classroom Management Skills – Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a lab/shop environment and differentiate instruction to support diverse learners.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Display a thorough knowledge of the subject matter and the District's prescribed curriculum.
*Plan instruction consistent with the District's curriculum for assigned subject areas/grade levels.
*Plan for student differences and adjust instruction to meet student needs.
*Implement continuous system of evaluations and provide students with specific feedback.
*Serve as facilitator and coordinator of learning.
*Establish an effective system for classroom discipline per Board Policy and building regulations.
*Organize students for effective instruction to maximize the learning time for all students.
*Fulfill contractual and professional responsibilities.
*Submit required student record reports.
