Description:
Westminster Public Schools seeks an Occupational Therapist. Located just 15 minutes outside of downtown Denver, Westminster Public Schools is a culturally and ethnically diverse school district that offers a friendly work environment, a very competitive salary, and benefits. Teachers beginning salary starts at $65,299 per year. The beginning salary for teachers with an MA degree is $72,639 per year. Top-earning teachers may earn up to $100,000 per year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*Valid CO Special Services license as an Occupational Therapist.
*Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board (AOTCB)
*At least one (1) year of experience working as a school-based OT desired
*Understands the intellectual, sensory, and physical development of children and young adults desired
*Excellent communication and collaboration skills
*Strong organizational and time-management skills
*Experience working with assistive technology and/or sensory-related issues desired
*Is current with professional theory and practices in the field of occupational therapy: Theory of physical and mental rehabilitation underlying the practices of OT. Principles, methods, and objectives of OT treatment, services, techniques of skeletal anatomy, neuromuscular function and dysfunction, kinesiology and OT modalities
*Knowledge for identifying and analyzing areas of developmental sensory-motor dysfunction
*Demonstrates knowledge of the special education process including, but not limited to, student evaluation, IEP development, and student progress monitoring
*Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired (e.g., bilingual skills, diverse experiences, etc.)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
*To provide professional consultation services and professional development for teachers and other staff members on recommendations for best practices in occupational therapy.
*To provide direct occupational therapy services as identified by student’s IEP/504 plan to improve access to educational environments.
*To administer OT assessments to determine a student’s level of functioning relative to their age in the areas of fine/gross motor skills development, sensory motor integration, self-care, and activities for daily living.
To write assessment reports that identify the student’s needs and proposed treatment strategies as well as for purposes of IEP development.
*To plan and work collaboratively within the district’s Motor Team (including the Physical Therapist).
*To communicate with families of students who have an OT treatment program for home-based follow through, if needed
*To administer OT programs as needed in terms of equipment recommendations and other relevant educational materials.
*To adapt equipment to assure proper positioning and to enhance functional performance of the student.
*To help support the District’s competency-based educational model as it relates to the role of an OT.
*To perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services.
