Description:
Student Engagement Fellowship
General Description: Population Connection, a national nonprofit
organization working to educate the public about population and related
environmental, economic and social issues, seeks candidates for a 6-month, paid
fellowship for its Population Education (PopEd) Program, starting in July 2026.
This position will help coordinate our annual,
international student video contest for grades 6-12. Now in its 16th
year, the World of 8 Billion contest asks students to create a short video explaining
how population growth impacts one of three global challenges and offering an
idea for a sustainable solution. More information about the contest can be

Fellowship responsibilities include:

Sending outreach marketing (video submissions
are due early March).
·
Creating, revising, and updating
content for the contest website, including blogs.
·
Communicating with teachers and
students about the contest and submission process.
·
Coordinating the staff judging process
and recruiting and managing guest judges.
·
Supporting the management of the World
of 8 Billion mini grant opportunity for teachers.
·
Assisting with
the planning and facilitation of webinars to support educators with the contest.
·
Prepping for the contest opening by
writing topic overviews, aligning topics to curriculum standards, preparing
marketing materials, and other updates as needed.
·
Creating social
media content about the contest and posting on PopEd’s channels (Facebook, BlueSky,
and LinkedIn), with support from PopEd staff.
The Fellow will work as
part of a dynamic team and support other program activities as needed,
including writing blogs for the program website. Detailed information about the

Requirements:
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in environmental and human
population issues and K-12 education, and strong writing skills. B.A. or B.S.
required.
Compensation:
$28/hour ($2,100/pay period, before taxes) plus competitive benefits package.
Location:
The Population Education Program team is based in Washington, DC and currently
works on a hybrid schedule (2 days in the office; 3 at home).
