Job Title: Music (Grades 3-5)
Purpose: Coordinate the vocal music program; instruction in related areas:
- Music Theroy
- Music History
- Vocie (Vocal Pedagogy); Direction of Choral Music Group; to serve as a role model for the students.
- Develop the student in both the cognitive and affective domain.
- Help students develop an appreciation and understanding of music both from historical background and as an art form.

Responsible to: Building Principal
Supervises: Classified personnel as assigned by the administration
Qualifications:
1. Kansas State Teaching Certificate/Licenses in assigned area (s) of instruction.
2. Highly qualified as defined in the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
3. Ability to convey information to students in a variety of methods to induce learning.
4. Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.
5. Ability to use appropriate classroom management skills that insure a positive learning environment.
6. Keep active in understanding the current trends in the discipline.
Essential Functions:
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the
community.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
1. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.
2. Requires stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, and reaching.
3. Ability to move equipment within the building as required.
4. Requires prolonged sitting and standing; and use of equipment causing eye fatigue.
General responsibilities:
1. Large Choral Groups Emphasis on sound music principles and materials; team effort.
2. Small Vocal Ensembles-Emphasis on the workings of the small group.
3. Solo performances Emphasis on good singing techniques, physical support.
4. Special programs for public singing for small groups, clubs, churches.
5. Seasonal performances (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.) Bringing the
community together.
6. Establish and maintain goals and objectives for each class and activity.
7. Present students with career information.
8. Provide variety in the program, thereby introducing students to a broad base program.
9. Works with others in the music department Instrumental, Choral, etc.
10. Work with the faculty at large Be cooperative with mutual respect.
11. Administrative Personnel Work together using two-way communication to enhance the program.
12. Students in the classroom Communicate and evaluate their needs, with a desire for development of each child.
13. Public Good public relations for school.
14. Willingness and flexibility to adopt new teaching strategies into their classroom.
15. Prepare students for local, state, and national summative assessments.
Term of Employment: As per negotiated teacher agreement
Payment Rate: According to Certified Salary Schedule
Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy of Certified Personnel.
