Description:
Position Summary:
Assist the Executive Director of Business and Finance and other Business Office staff in carrying out a broad range of responsibilities including grant accounting management and transaction posting/monitoring, bank account reconciliations, reconcile balance sheet accounts as assigned, reconcile bank/ cash flow, assists with audits for the district and provides additional assistance in all aspects in the finance department as needed. The ideal candidate will continually evaluate the accountant role processes to ensure effective and appropriate utilization of district resources recommending changes where appropriate.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintain local/state/federal grant fiscal records and monitor expenditures.
- Continuously monitor all grant regulations.
- Prepare grant cash requests on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile all district bank accounts monthly.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Reconcile do to and do from accounts.
- Necessary journal entries
- Assist with audit preparations as requested by the Executive Director of Business/Finance.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Business/Finance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor"s degree in Accounting required
- 3+ years school accounting experience preferred
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with fund accounting and familiarity with the Michigan Public School Accounting Manual (Bulletin 1022) preferred.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of accounting practices.
- Attention to detail and timelines.
- Have the ability to manage several projects/tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of grant accounting is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Effectively work as an individual and as part of a team.
Organization Relationship: This position reports to the Executive Director of Business/Finance
Salary: $51,984 - $61,793
Contract: 261 Days (12 Months)
