STANISLAUS COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
CLASS TITLE: Graphics Technician I
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Graphics Manager, perform technical duties in document archiving, utilizing
scanning equipment and computer software programs, and in the production and finishing of printed materials
utilizing high speed copiers and related equipment; perform routine maintenance and repairs on all equipment
used in course of job related duties.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Perform technical duties in document archiving, utilizing high speed scanners and sophisticated computer
programs.
Performs technical duties in the production and finishing of printed materials utilizing high speed copiers and
related equipment.
Performs routine maintenance and repairs on all equipment used in course of job related duties.
Communicate with customers to assess and quote potential jobs.
Communicate with customers to keep them apprised of job status and completion.
Communicate with Information Technology personnel to coordinate technical details.
Communicate with graphics staff to coordinate scheduling of document archiving work and processing of
orders from initial input to delivery and invoicing.
Operate a high speed copier and other related equipment for the high volume reproduction and distribution of a
variety of materials for customers.
Operate a variety of finishing equipment such as a collator, paper drills, folding machine, GBC spreader,
inserter, numbering machines, stitchers and other related equipment; adjust equipment as necessary.
Collate, assemble, hole punch, bind, staple and package reproduced materials; and finish printing projects.
Clean and maintain equipment in efficient working order; perform simple adjustments and repairs and diagnose
problems; notify appropriate personnel of malfunctions as necessary.
Deliver finished products to designated sites as directed, when needed.
May occasionally serve as an alternative back up delivery driver.
Maintain a variety of logs and records related to work performed and equipment usage and repair.
Train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned staff.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Principles, processes and equipment used in document archiving, duplicating and high speed photocopying.
Bindery procedures and equipment.
Record-keeping techniques.

Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Basic inventory methods and practices.
Health and safety regulations.
Interpersonal skills using, tact, patience and courtesy.
Basic computer skills
ABILITY TO:
Perform technical duties in the reproduction of a wide variety of printed materials.
Operate and maintain scanning equipment, finishing machines and related equipment.
Operate a computer terminal with peripheral attachments such as scanners, printers and high speed digital
copiers.
Produce quality printed work according to established production standards.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Maintain records.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Work independently with little direction.
Observe health and safety regulations.
Prioritize and schedule work.
Meet schedules and time lines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of responsible experience in
document archiving, high speed scanning machines, high speed copiers and related equipment.
LICENSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver’s license.
ENVIRONMENT:
Print shop environment.
Noise and fumes from equipment operation.
Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer, high speed copiers and finishing equipment.
Standing and sitting for extended periods of time.
Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling medium weighted objects.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders or horizontally to reach supplies.
Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to retrieve and store supplies.
Seeing to read a variety of materials and repair machines.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
