Description:
The Rivers School — a 6-12 co-ed independent day school in Weston, MA, just outside Boston — seeks professionals who are looking to join a dynamic, innovative, and welcoming school community. The Rivers School seeks an Upper School English teacher to join our dynamic and collaborative faculty from late August of 2026 to the end of November to cover a leave. This position will entail teaching three sections of 9th grade English.
Our English Department is grounded in the belief that literature and writing empower students to engage meaningfully with the world, fostering empathy and personal growth. For this reason, we are looking for a mission-driven educator. The ideal candidate will be a creative and thoughtful practitioner who embraces innovation. A bachelor’s degree in English or a related field is required; a master’s degree in English, education, or creative writing is preferred. Rivers welcomes candidates who will contribute to the diversity of identity, experience, and perspectives within our faculty and school community. We offer affinity spaces for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ faculty.
In addition to mentoring from the Department Chair and Dean of Faculty, the new English teacher will be assigned a peer mentor and take part in an onboarding program led by the Director of New Faculty Development.
