Job Description and Responsibilities
This is a full-time, on-site role as a Special Education Teacher serving a school located in Littleton, CO.
The Special Education Teacher (SPED) will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.
Job Details
Full-time school-based opportunity with a 37.5-hour work week
2026–2027 academic year (August through May/June)
Serving students across Kindergarten through 12th grade
Deliver specialized educational instruction while supporting student achievement through case management, assessments, and multidisciplinary collaboration
Participate in evaluations, IEP development, progress monitoring, and educational planning
Guaranteed paid hours covering direct services, documentation, lesson preparation, meetings, and other professional responsibilities
Fully on-site position within a supportive school environment
Ongoing guidance and collaboration provided by both the partnering school district and the TheraPeds team
Competitive compensation of $55–$75+ per hour, with estimated weekly earnings of $2062–$2812
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain individualized education programs (IEPs) that address students' academic, behavioral, functional, and social-emotional needs.
Deliver differentiated instruction and targeted interventions designed to help students achieve individualized learning goals.
Complete formal and informal assessments, contribute to eligibility determinations, and use evaluation data to guide instructional planning.
Serve as the special education case manager by coordinating IEP meetings, maintaining compliance, and ensuring accurate documentation.
Monitor student achievement through ongoing progress monitoring, data analysis, and instructional adjustments to maximize student success.
Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, confidence, and independence.
Collaborate regularly with families, classroom teachers, administrators, and related service providers to ensure coordinated student support.
Provide consultation and instructional support to school staff regarding accommodations, modifications, behavior intervention strategies, and inclusive classroom practices.
Teaching Certification, Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education
State License as SPED teacher
1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
Experience working with children
Organizational and time management skills
Proficient in use of technology
Fingerprint background clearance
Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications
Physical Requirements
Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
