DescriptionJOB SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher serves young children with developmental disabilities in the home, and community settings ages 0-3. This individual must have a genuine interest in working with children and their families.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):
Develops and implements effective treatment plans in coordination with other team members.
Participates in the IFSP/IEP Team.
Works with the transdisciplinary team to achieve the educational and developmental goals of the child.
Maintains records as required.
Conducts developmental assessments.
Completes required task in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person.
Ability to determine and identify items and children in the periphery, near, and far visual fields.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education required.
Certification in ECH, ECD, ECSE or ECU required.
Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.
SKILLS:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Works effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work effectively with parents, children, public, and other professionals.
Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (210 or 201days- full-time) or Non-Exempt (156 days- part-time)
JOB STATUS: Full-time options are 210 days (1,680 hours) or 201 days (1,608 hours) worked annually.
Part-time options are 156 days (1,248 hours) worked annually.
WORK PACE: Self-paced, requiring the ability to think and act quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates homes, and community settings as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May require frequent extended work days. Requires some travel between RUI sites, family homes, and other community agencies.
Sitting: 6 - 7 hours in an 8-hour work shift; may occasionally alternate to standing or walking.
Standing: 1 - 2 hours in an 8-hour work shift. Alternates to sitting on a frequent basis.
Walking: 1/2 - 1 hour in an 8-hour work shift.
