Job Description

$42,000 - 48,000 Starting Pay with Bonuses

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree Required. (Assistance Provided to Obtain Teaching Certification in the State of Missouri.)

Teaching Certification Preferred.

A Special Education Teacher Discovery Schools - Desoto:

- Designs instructional opportunities for students to access state learning standards and to achieve IEP, Behavior Intervention Plan, and transition goals.

- Manages the classroom environment and the various adults assigned to supporting classroom needs.

- Leads or assists team supporting a student in crisis through implementation of Safe Crisis Management and other crisis management techniques

- Monitors students receiving related services weekly (Speech, Occupational Therapy, Counseling, etc.)

- Accepts direction and adheres to policies and procedures.

- Demonstrates tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication and reacts calmly and effectively in high emotion situations.

- Maintains ongoing progress records for all students assigned and communicates regularly to parents.

- Demonstrates preparedness for IEP meetings through the submission of drafted documents according to supervisors timeline.
